Use the city’s process

The city’s defensive-driving page calls for the application, plea, license, insurance, affidavit and applicable court costs. Its portal specifically says driving-safety and deferral requests must be made with the court in person and warns not to pay online for those options. Confirm any proposed mail arrangement with the clerk.

Submit the record with the certificate

After approval, the city gives 90 days for course completion and the certified Type 3A record. Keep the court’s assigned return date and instructions with your application.

Do not address payment to the county

The main court page emphasizes that this is not Montgomery County. It rejects personal checks and directs cashier’s checks or money orders to City of Montgomery. Contact 936-597-6434 about the current amount and filing method.
